The above photograph is by Konrad Jakubowski, he has a website and a page on deviantARt. His website is an example of a good way to use Flash on a website; not only does it load fast but it looks good.

I highly recommend his work as it all looks amazing.

Panda Bear’s current album, Person Pitch, will blow your mind. It sounds amazing live too. There is an interview with Panda Bear here where they discuss, among other things, the new Animal Collective album, Strawberry Jam.

Here are three photographers I like, you have to go see their websites really as it’s not fair to judge them by just one photograph.

Anouk Morgan’s work can be seen on her website as well as on deviantArt.

Nicoline Patricia Malina’s work can be seen on her website as well as on deviantArt.

Sevilay Maria’s work can be seen on her website as well as on deviantArt.

Historie de Melody Nelson is one of the greatest albums ever, and by one of the greatest musicians too; Serge Gainsbourg. Many people have covered and sampled songs from the album, most noteably David Holmes on Don’t Die Just Yet (from Let’s Get Killed) and Beck on Paper Paw (from Sea Change) and I should note that those two albums are also fantastic.

Today I found out about this blog, Filles Sourires, which has some mp3s of some songs that have sampled Melody Nelson in yesterdays entry. They also mention this list of songs that have sampled Serge which is fantastic.

Wednesday

There is this cool blog I recently stumbled on called lines and colour. Over there I found some choice entries on Al Parker, Lok Jansen and Stephen Wiltshire.

Al Parker’s art, above, speaks for itself, you don’t need me to tell you it is good. But take a look at some more of it at these sites: Al Parker Flickr set and Al Parker at 100 Years of Illustration.

I like Lok Jansen’s lines in his cityscapes, like those above. They remind me of the work of Masamune Shirow in the original Ghost In The Shell series. The lighting is really nice also.

I am sure that when I was young I watched a documentary which had a young Stephen in it, so to find him again was funny. I quite like his lines regardless of how he does them really, I like that style. You can read more on him at Wikipedia. Also make sure you take a look at his Panoramic view of Tokyo which is what he is drawing in the image below.

See photos from Ghostpatrol and Miso’s above show here. Ghostpatrol also has a flickr.

Over at Chris Gardner’s blog he discusses the Batman logos he designed. Batman is awesome, and these logos show it. Here is the sketch, and here is the final logo. There is also an interview with House Ind (who Chris works for) over here which has some nice art.

Sweet new 2012 logos for the London Olympics. Alot of people hate it, but I think it’s cool. But unfortunately a video featuring the logo gave people seizures.

Vice recently interviewed Rikki Kasso of Tokyo Undressed. The site’s not just about those crazy Tokyoites getting their kit off, there’s also plenty of ‘work friendly’ photos too, such as these great colourful bunch from April 26 and these great pics, from February 22, which prove possible an idea I had a few months back.

Mr. Kasso also has another blog where he posts non photography art (such as that above) as well as a few other sites (like this fashion one) which are linked on the ones I’ve mentioned.

40 Years article at NME.

The above work is by Gardar Eide Einarsson. It is I Want You Dead Uncle Sam (2004) and I like how the pencil is still there.

OOO, I just had to come back and mention this: Pola Rose. It’s facial recognition software for the everyday photo. Basically you could take photos of randoms and then find out who they were. Will you use your new found powers for Good or Evil?

Saturday

Fecal Face have interviewed Michael C Hsiung. He has interesting lines and the above piece, A short sketch of two mermen planning to plunder ruins with an unfortunate outcome, reminds me of a book I had as a child. Anyway, Fecal face have a Free Fridayz thing which seems cool, and likely is.

One of my favourite songs off the new Justice album is Phantom (both Phantom and then Phantom II), but did you know that the sample comes from the theme song of the 1982 Italian film Tenebre (performed by Goblin)? You do now.
