The above is Black Square and Red Square (1915) by Kasimir Malevich and is an example of ‘Russian suprematism‘. See more of his art here and read more on him here.

Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia was one of my favourite albums for a lot of last year. The first three tracks continue to amaze. Especially Nietzsche in which the guitars and lyrics both blow you away.

Is this the greatest debut album ever? Yes according to the August 2006 Uncut. And it’s true; this album is one of the greatest albums you can own, and definately the best debut. It’s got pop, it’s got weird. What ever mood you are in it will work for you.
But the best way to hear this album is the box set: Peel Slowly and See. You get demos and outakes as well as live tracks. If you own that and the 2CD version of The Velvet Underground & Nico then you truly are set for life.
And remember that acetate that went on eBay for $25,200 a while back? Well now you can dowload it! More info on Uncut.

The above (click image to see larger version) is by Sigmar Polke who’s work I recently saw at RMIT Gallery. I got the image from this site through this amazing blog. From there I also found this amazing fashion photography by Ira Bordo. As well as this (Arnulf Rainer’s ohne Titel), this (Daniel Nufer’s Three Stages) and this work by Claus Sauer. All amazing work.
