The above photo is of Serge Gainsbourg when he was Lucien Ginsburg, and is from here which also has some other nice photos and information.

Also, Filmwad have an interesting article on ‘Directors Cuts’ of films, most noteable is what they have to say about Blade Runner.

Go to
Hedi Slimane’s Diary and check out the amazing black and whites he has taken. He also has a page on Wikipedia. There is also an article here (from 2001) about his catwalk debut.

Anyway I like the rock and roll nature of the photos, and Peter is in the ones at the top playing with the cats in some, which looks very cool. I like Slimane’s focus, it’s nice.

He also has a myspace.

The above image, They came by water Oil on canvas, is from John Marsden’s The Rabbits. Shaun Tan is the illustrator / artist and his work is amazing. The story is quite good too until it mentions the ’stolen children’. The whole thing is the story of Australia and early settlement, but it shows a very one sided view, which is not something to be proud of in what seems to be a childrens book.
Anyway politics aside, Shaun Tan also has his own wordless graphic novel called The Arrival which is fantastic.

Peter Doherty’s Blood Paintings are mentioned in the Daily Mail. The second one (Cell portrait: Number 3 On The Twos) is quite good.

Lastly, Wired Magazine: The Science of Pop-Ups.

The above art is by decrepticon from their Myspace who’s layout was made by these lads. But what is really cool is not only do they have a myspace but they also have a website.
Check out Boro Pat, a Northern spoof of Postman Pat.

Also while I am listing cool things, FashionAu is a great Myspace which has a focus on Australian Fashion.

The above piece, called ..inside the mountain in the garden up the street..mi sono girato… , is by an artist who doesn’t appear to have a website, but who does have a myspace: here. I am pretty sure you must be logged in to see their ‘photos’ but the artists has heaps of their art on their front page as HUGE images and they also have posted them all over their friends pages too.

Brett Whiteley has really nice lines. I like how he ‘draws’ his wife, the shapes. The above picture is Portrait of Wendy (1984) and is from this site.

The above image is from The Skull Set’s website by Jack Siegel. To be precise it is from the page called: ‘this place is filled with sickos‘.
Cracked have a great Superman spoof (send up) over here: Stupendous Man. They also have one for Batman fans, Dusk-Man!
